Here you can see a selection of pictures to a commission received for the repair of a stained glass window panel in Northampton.
The window was in poor condition with cracks in the glass, lead had seperated from the glass, warping and structural bends in the whole stained glass panel and to touch the panel in its place was very sensitve to movement.
This stained glass window panel was in need of a re-vamp therefore, this is a case of the panel being completely stripped down and re-built. Templates were made up to the original design, the next step was to dismantle the panel with care to preserve all the re-useable glass, where needed the broken glass was matched up and cut. All the glass was then cleaned up prior to re-assembling, the panel was then re-built to specification which included some extra strength lines in the lead channels as this panel was situated in a front door rather than a window.
This stained glass window has now been bought back to life in its natural form to the delight of the customer. |
